As always most interesting. I have a heightened olfactory sense so I have to steer away from the perfume area of department stores. I rarely wear perfume. Last time i put on a Chanel perfume my granddaughter asked me what the funny smell was. I'll have to try again with her. Maybe her olfactory sense needs training. I still have a bottle of my mother's perfume from the 1930's and the scent is still strong. Le Narcisse Noir Caron. Bottle is by Baccarat. Slightly diminished scent perhaps, but that is all.
A lovely bottle. I have a small collection of 'twenties and 'thirties flacons, powder boxes, compacts etc, those featuring Rene Lalique's design for Coty's Origan a particular favourite.
During our last trip to Paris my wife took a class in a parfumerie making her own fragrance. The class was supposed to be in English but wasn’t, though the teacher spoke English and would translate once in a while. My wife almost left, expressed her displeasure, and the teacher said something like, “Do you know the history of our company?” as a VIP would say, Do you know who I am? I heard that a couple of times in shops. It seemed like an excuse or something to instill respect so you wouldn’t complain. But perhaps it’s a cultural thing?
I visited the Fragonard museum and shop in Grasse a few years ago on a very hot July day. I always buy some fragonard products when I go to Paris. It ain't as expensive as Chanel 😉 😏
We wish … not emerging from deepest darkest Vienne until 30th! There’s a Souvenir party I’m sure we’ll be missing. Just the way the dates worked out for my friend buying us supper to mark another turn around the sun.

Dommage. We're in Paris until the end of June; after that relocating in Charente. Maybe our paths will cross.

So funny to read this, John, not two days after JoJo and I were discussing our upcoming trip to Paris - we had a notion to visit a parfumerie.
Thanks. l look forward to seeing you on the 26th.
