I'm with you on hot dogs, Helen. They are an answer to the query posed by the Shadow: "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?" / For the potatoes Hemingway enjoyed, I steam rather than boil them. A waxy variety like red Rosenval is best. Pour over them only enough white wine to moisten: you don't want them to steep. Once cool, they only need oil, some slices of onion, pepper and salt.

Dare I dabble in the dubious delight of a delicate yet dangerous brain dog? I think not.

I can’t think of a more unappetising sight than this one of bratwurst/frankfurters. Potato salad sounds delightful, especially with a light white. My only memory of hot dogs was at a baseball match in Chicago where my American friends insisted we had to try the hot dogs with the trimmings. I acquiesced and had the same hot dog digesting for a week. Say no more. But those potatoes marinated in white wine sound most interesting.

This is so fun to read! I should try and make a Hemingway-inspired potato salad! 😁. And try this restaurant when I’m back. ❤️🇫🇷
