I have an Armani also, which formerly belonged to the actor Jean Reno. (As they say in the film business, it fell off the back of a movie. ) In the process of having it shortened - I don't have his height - I found that coins had been secreted in the hems, a la Coco Chanel and her gold chains, to give it is some "swing". That's actors. Always "on".
John, I enjoyed these perfectly captured descriptions of cold and winter. Cold in cities, silent cold of the woods, bracing cold and wind. I’m a New Englander and surrounded by talk of heading south, people who have had it with winter… It’s not that I love winter but I accept it. It’s natural and nature at work. I appreciate the rhythm of the seasons. And like trees, I may need a dormant phase. A good coat is key!
What a splendid coat! I have an Armani but it is simple, even drab, by comparison. I understand perfectly the preference for cold. Down here in Oz, people get excited about the coming of summer. For me, it's dread.
I love your description of the cold weather. Sumer solstice is almost upon us here and the sun will commence its journey back to you. With hardly a thought to warming our bodies in Melbourne. That's my only disappointment.
Every Fall in Watkins Glen, NY there is a classic car show and a race on the old course that went through the town.
Later that week-end there are car races by catégorie at the new race track on the hill. My favorite cars are the antique Bugattis with the huge grills and the Listers.

For those of us whose body temperatures require several jackets in 20 degrees Celsius, I applaud your daughter's choice.
You look very dashing!

I hear you! I grew up on the Gulf Coast and have often found myself in Iceland, the Orkey Islands, Finland, and the like in January!

Now you just need the car to go with the coat😉
