Seems there's just something naturally comic about turkeys.

An agreeably urbane comment. Many thanks. I particularly like the suggestion that Oliver Gee's chatty observations provide a necessary preliminary to more taxing work. It brought to mind Alfred Doolittle's suggestion to Higgins and Pickering in PYGMALION that he deserves payment for having raised Eliza until "she’s growed big enough to be interesting to you two gentlemen." Maybe I should put Oliver on retainer.

My first time in Paris was 1974. No one wanted to 'practise their English' and there were no concessions. My brother and I visited the Louvre. As we looked in awe at the Rembrandts, we realised we were the only people in that room.

I've a been a regular visitor to Paris since 2017. I feel that the "decline" of Paris is in line with the rest of the world. People are forgetting about customer service. Not just in the shops and restaurants but in the streets and on the telephone. The world has become a culture of "me" rather than "us" or even "you".

Paris was one of the last bastions but I believe since Covid and the closure of major touristic cities around the globe, most people don't truly care about anything except the "poundnote" and the me-factor.

Yes, I am a little of the same for I have an Instagram page but that's more for collating and sharing memories for my 2 sons as opposed to using it for a soapbox to insist my way is the right way.

I appreciate good communicative skills that allow for discussion and intellectual discord as well as informative knowledge being passed around (but not the same things by everybody!).

There are some amazingly talented people out there - such as yourself - that I am always happy to hear from with your own views as well as those more readily available people - such as Oliver Gee - who pass out collated knowledge to inspire extra research in order to be ready for such conversations and discussions that you provide us with.

The man considered. "Is like….", he said thoughtfully, "…..beeg chicken." This remoinds me of Bud Spencer who was told by a Chinese waiter in a western restaurant saloon: " is like ... flying dog."
